Twitter is useless - having given it a major try, here are the conclusions:

1. Twitter is dominated by marketing wannabes that appear at a loss as to how to generate demand.

2. Word of mouth is best done by satisfied customers.

3. Customer support should be done by skilled customer people. It would help to staff customer support with such folks - and reduce damage control due to frivolous customer support outsourcing down the road.

Im not sure about that point, the success of all that crap is that people in social websites are like crazy for increasing the number of fans and friends, so they add EVERYONE. I HAVE to work with twitter and facebook, It is a shame how people the day I started a new account for the business I work for, just added it even without knowing what was the business about.

Im not sure about people who want to receive advertising into their social websites accounts, I see daily people adding fishing websites, fake chinese online shops...and they just continue adding more crap...If im into social websites is not for receiving useles advertising. I see it as a waste of time, with a really poor conversion and followed by online companies who just follow this trend without thinking.

Maybe some online websites find it useful, like blogs and else...(I see it useful for a blog where someone want to get the news from all the followed blogs into their account, well except twitter which is useless) but what I see are not blogs, but online companies doing what the rest of the world do, and loosing their time filling those social websites with crap.

Finally, Im not against Facebook, Myspace and so on (maybe against Twitter)...I find usefull for Internet and for our lifestyle, it is good that we can share our point of view with the rest of the world and that we are all connected to each other...BUT I hate the way online companies are aproaching them.
